NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS.... RIGHT?

Once again it has been awhile…. So many things have happened since I last blogged. On June 5th I went to Dallas for an MRI and to meet with my oncologist. In a nutshell Dr. Maher said my MRI looked great!! The remaining tumor has not grown at all. I wanted her to tell me that the remaining tumor has shrunk, but I didn’t exactly get that news. If the chemo is doing its job, it could take a couple more months to show the tumor shrinking on the MRI. I was not able to meet with my neurosurgeon to schedule my 5th and hopefully last surgery, so that date is still up in the air. I had hoped to schedule it for the last of this month, but it doesn’t look like that will be happening. Both doctors want to wait until I have taken a few more months of chemo until we schedule it. I am constantly reminding them that I will be going snow skiing this year and I need a full skull for that. They don’t seem to be as concerned with the skiing as I am! I have finished my 4th round of chemo and it seems to be a little more tolerable. I was not as nauseated this round, but I continue to struggle with fatigue. We continue to pray each and every day for continued healing! God has been so good!

My life outside of brain cancer has been pretty busy…..

  • My house should be done next week, and I am so ready to be in it. Building a house is a lot more of a pain that I ever dreamed it would be! Each day they get closer to being done and I get more anxious to be in it!

  • I went to Arkansas for my college roommate Matt’s wedding. It was so good to see old friends and celebrate this exciting time with him. It was the first time in five years that all three of us college roommates were able to hang out together. It looks like I will be the last of the three cronies to tie the knot now that Elijah is engaged. Congrats to both of you!

  • After my doctor’s appointments in Dallas, Shea and I stayed an extra night for the George Strait and Reba concert at the new Cowboy Stadium. The concert was great and the stadium is amazing! We had a great time. We met Shea's sister and her family for dinner one night. Although I am not typically a HUGE kid person, her niece Chloe is pretty cute. I know this picture is cute, but I do charge a fee for printing it off to put in your home!! I guess I will take your prayers as payment!!

  • Last weekend we went to Tulsa with my Dad for the drag races. Shea had not ever been to the races so it was quite a treat for her. I had forgotten how much I enjoy being at the track with my dad. Next time maybe I will choose to go to a race where it isn’t 120 ̊.

I am constantly amazed by the people that I meet who know me from church prayer chains, emails, small groups, and word of mouth. I can’t count the times I have been asked, “Are you the one who is fighting brain cancer?” Thanks you so much for sharing my story and for the continued prayers and support! I wouldn’t be here without it!
