A fragment from an ancient Mesopotamian lamentation:"Dead men, not potsherdslittered the way.In the wide streetswhere the crowds once gathered and cheered,the corpses lay scattered.In the fields where the dancers once dancedthe dead were heaped up in piles......."Iraq has been in dreadful places before, it has recovered and it will recover.
