Paying market, Pearson Places Media, pays AU$150-$200 for poetry, AU$80-$200 for fiction/ non-fiction

Non Fiction

Our demand for freelance writing of non-fiction varies from issue to issue.

The publisher and editors decide the contents for a particular issue and then commission freelance writers or select articles from unsolicited submissions. If you have an idea or material on hand which you feel could be suitable, forward an outline of your story for consideration.

We do not generally commission articles from writers with whose work we are unfamiliar so unless you can show us examples of published work, you will have to submit your article on spec.
Copyright

Pearson Australia requires a licence to reprint works published in these magazines. However, authors may be paid a publication fee for any future use of the material as defined by the contributor agreement.

Presentation

Text should be in Times Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced with wide margins on both sides of the typed copy. Don’t worry about fancy headings or borders!

Articles should include subheadings, and short profiles, case studies, tables, hints, jokes, fact files, etc, where appropriate.

We request that all commissioned or accepted work be forwarded to us via email to magazines@pearson.com.au
