I watched Grey's Anatomy tonight for the first time in a long time. When the show started it showed Meredith doing a neuro assessment. It is a test that they do on brain tumor patients each doctors visit. It is very simple....they tell the patient 3 words to remember and then ask them to repeat them later during the assessment. This brought such vivid memories. I saw Brian do this same assessment numerous times. Words like apple, Chicago, chair, world, and others go through my mind. These are all words Brian had to remember at different times. The amazing thing is that Brian never once forgot a word. Each time I would anxiously wait to see if he would forget the words, because that would tell us his short term memory had been affected. It never was! Brian always credited it to his many years of selling cars and having to remember customers names! There is one time that I can remember sitting at MD Anderson by Greg, we both forgot the words by the time they asked Brian to repeat them, but Brian always remembered them!
I am soooooooo thankful that God blessed me with an amazing memory. I take after my Mam in that way! Her memory is second to none!!! I am able to remember so many precious things about Brian, and those memories are what get me through the day! It's the little things that randomly pop in my head that make me smile! His smile, amazing laugh, great hugs, among so many more. I will cherish these forever! Likewise, I will never forget the many doctors appointments and neuro tests! They are all wonderful memories!
My heart had to smile when Bryn told me that my two year old nephew was playing a few days ago like he was on the phone talking to Uncle Brian! This is a pretty big deal because he doesn't say just anyones name! I am so thankful he remembers Brian, and I do believe that Brian was talking to him!
So many wonderful memories..... Memories are a gift and I am so thankful I am blessed with such great ones!
peace and love
