Paying market, The Big Book of Bizarro (Burning Bulb Publishing), pays $0.05 per word

Deadline: 1 July 2011

We will accept Microsoft Word .doc attachments only. We are looking for bizarro stories.
Bizarro fiction is defined on Wikipedia here.

The publisher wants tales with a solid plot and good character development. Stories should grab the reader's attention quickly and hold it until the end (think powerful and emotional tales that are creepy, chilling, disturbing, and moody.) As these stories are intended for an adult audience, explicit submissions are acceptable.

Formatting your manuscript:
  • Double-space.
  • Use Times New Roman (12).
  • Italicize what you want italicized.
  • Single space after sentence-ending punctuation.
  • Be sure to include your name, address, email on manuscript.
Pleased be advised: this is NOT a contest. There are no fees of any kind to submit material for this project and if your story is chosen, you will be paid as described above and receive a free copy of the completed book upon publication. Submission does not guarantee placement as the editors maintain sole discretion over content to be included.

Editors: Horror novelists Rich Bottles Jr. (Lumberjacked) and Gary Lee Vincent (Darkened Hills)

Format: Trade Paperback

Payment: Five-cents per word (upon publication) up to submission cap plus contributor copy.

Story length: Up to 3000 words (note: the story may go slightly over, but compensation will be capped at $75.00 per story).

No reprints. No multiple or simultaneous submissions.
