Kids’Magination Magazine, where kids can enjoy learning and reading, is open for submissions of short stories, flash and microfiction. We want stories suitable for 9 to 14 year-olds – stories that will excite the reader found in all kids, of all ages, youth and adult. Kids’Magination accepts most genres of fiction, although we do have a weakness for fantasy. Whatever the story, make it simple enough for youth to enjoy and engaging enough for adults to love. We will pay $10.00 per story, $3.50 per flash and $2 per microfiction piece. We accept reprints, but they must be clearly labeled when submitted. Please use our submission forms at Submishmash for all submission. Registration with submishmash and submission to Kids’Magination Online are free.
Fiction Submissions - We seek quality fiction with emotionally charged writing and exceptional crafting geared specifically for children ages 9 to 14. Whether your piece is a short story, a flash or microfiction, it should be a complete story. We are certainly not interested in graphic violence, gore, sex or foul language for its shock value, especially the vain use of God’s name or f-words. KidsMagination retains the right for determining the final word count.
Short Stories: between 1000 and 3000 words. Submit up to two stories at a time. Single space your stories with an extra line between each paragraph and no headers or footers. Please do not place hard line breaks (except for paragraph) or page breaks in your document. Each short story must be submitted in its own file.
Flash: between 300 and 999 words. Submit up to two flash pieces at a time. Single space your stories with an extra line between each paragraph and no headers or footers. Please do not place hard line breaks (except for paragraph) or page breaks in your document. Each short story must be submitted in its own file.
Microfiction: up to 299 words. Submit up to three microfiction pieces at a time. Single space your stories with an extra line between each paragraph and no headers or footers. Please do not place hard line breaks (except for paragraph) or page breaks in your document. Each short story must be submitted in its own file.
Publication Dates
We will publish in June, September, December and March.
