Free to enter, APsaA Essay Prize in Psychoanalysis and Culture, prize: $1,000 (USA)

The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) has issued a call for submissions for the 2011 Essay Prize in Psychoanalysis and Culture. APsaA’s Committee on Research and Special Training (CORST) encourages the involvement of higher education academics in psychoanalysis and works with them to stimulate interest in psychoanalysis at the university level. Academics may submit essays on psychoanalytically informed research in the bio-behavioral sciences, social sciences, arts and/or humanities.



The winning essay will be presented at APsaA’s 2012 National Meeting at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City and will be reviewed for publication by the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association (JAPA). Additionally, the winner will receive a $1,000 prize and up to $1,000 in reimbursed expenses for hotel, airfare and/or travel to attend the award presentation on Jan. 13th, 2012.



Submission Guidelines:



The essay should be no more than 30 pages in length and should neither have been published or submitted for publication to other journals.



The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, September 6, 2011.



The CORST Essay Prize is open to anyone - regardless of institutional status or affiliation.

CORST has had an internationally recognized essay award for the last decade, with programs of outreach that attract and integrate research candidates and offers mentorship for academics which includes psychoanalytic consultations on their research.



The American Psychoanalytic Association is a professional organization of psychoanalysts and is comprised of approximately 3,300 members. The oldest psychoanalytic organization in the nation, APsaA is celebrating its 100th anniversary throughout 2011.
