Freelance job, editing for Good Catch Publishing, payment: $200 per book

Good Catch Publishing, a Portland-based Christian publisher, is looking for a brilliant, detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly-skilled Executive Editor for a contract, work-from-home position. Duties include reading and editing each book of inspirational, Jesus-inspired testimonies produced by Good Catch Publishing, as well as editing occasional Lasting Legacy and Individual Author books produced by GCP's subsidiary, Good Book Publishing. Executive Editor reads and edits for content, grammar, style and liability issues, and serves as the final quality control agent for all books published by GCP and GBP. (All books undergo initial editing by project managers; the Executive Editor serves as the final set of eyes. Generally only very light, but incredibly important, editing is required.)

All applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, creative writing or communications and have at least two years of editing experience at a professional publication. Must have a strong command of AP Style and thoroughly understand libel and liability issues. The right candidate will also possess strong interpersonal communication skills and display a passion for the mission of Good Catch Publishing.



Good Catch Publishing pays $200 per edited book for this quality control position. Each book contains seven chapters and takes approximately five to seven hours to read, review and edit. This makes the hourly compensation for this position anywhere between $28 and $40 per hour. As a contract employee, books are available for editing as they fall under contract with Good Catch Publishing. Currently, the Executive Editor can expect to edit two to three books per month. We expect this number will double or triple by the first of next year.
