update

It is crazy to think that a small skin irritation could turn into such an intrusive and painful rash. The rash that started on Brian's neck has now taken over his entire body. It starts out itching but soon becomes extremely painful. After a few days of intense pain the skin begins to peel. His skin looks like he has suffered from a sever burn. The doctors are working hard to control his pain but it never seems to go away. The rash has also caused his legs and arms to become incredibly swollen. He is basically hanging out in the hospital and waiting out all the stages of the rash. The doctors still feel like the rash originated from a reaction to an antibiotic. Who would have thought that Brian would endure 3 brain surgeries, but be suffering so much from a rash?

On the up side of things.... his fever finally broke today and for the first time in 11 days he is fever free. The doctors are sure that the fever was directly linked to the rash, so we are hopeful that the rash is in its final days. The doctors have said that Brian should be able to leave the hospital by this weekend or the beginning of next week. We are keeping our fingers crossed! His head is healing nicely from the 3rd surgery and the doctors all say that things look great! Honestly his head is over shadowed by the rash right now. His blood levels were low after the 3rd surgery, so today they gave him more blood. He is already feeling better and has more energy since receiving the blood. Hopefully this will give him the strength and energy that is needed to come home! Brian still has a good attitude and he continues to play the cards as they are dealt. He is so grateful for all of your prayers and support! Please continue to keep him in your prayers as he battles this terrible rash! Thanks!
