Free contest, All Hallows Flash Fiction Competition, prize: $0.10 per word

Deadline: 6 November 2010

As the start of what I am hoping will become an annual tradition, I am now inviting submissions for the All Hallows Flash Fiction competition. The rules and requirements are simple: Write a short story revolving around the Halloween season (I doubt that requires much in the way of elaboration – witches, ghosts, goblins, trick r’ treat…you know the deal), which does not exceed 500 words. This latter rule is a fairly strict one. Sure, I’ll allow 501 words, or 499, but much beyond that is pushing it. The word count does not include titles and bylines. Send your submissions to kealan@kealanpatrickburke.com with “AHFFC Submission: Story Title – Your Name” in the subject line. You can include your story in the body of the email or as a Rich Text attachment in Word.

Although the theme suggests horror, there are no restrictions on genre. The focus will be on quality of writing .

In addition to bragging rights, the winning entry will receive ten cents a word and publication on my website www.kealanpatrickburke.com, in additional to the professional credit and a signed copy of my next book.

I will accept submissions until November 6th.

Happy Halloween! Now get to writing!
