Budding short story and screenplay writers, now is your time to shine.

AUT’s second annual creative writing competition opens 1 November 2010 and closes midnight 31 January, 2011.

Unpublished writers only

All entrants must be unpublished writers only. For the short story: an unpublished writer is one who has not had a fiction work appear in trade book format. Each category winner receives a MacBook Pro as well as mentoring time with a leading New Zealand writer and online publication of the winning entry, profiled on the NZ Herald website. Second place receives the latest generation iPod Touch and third place wins an iPod Nano (multitouch).

A screenplay is a written work that is made especially for a film or television programme. Screenplays must be original works to be accepted in this competition.
