1. Program Description. ec magazine’s 4th Annual Fiction Contest (the “Contest”) promotion is a fiction writing contest for teen readers of the magazine enrolled in grades 7-12 inviting them to submit an original fiction story that begins with the sentence: “The teen walked into the room, shut the door, leaned against it, and sighed.” (the “Contest Prompt”).
There are two (2) categories in the ec magazine Fiction contest: middle school (readers in grades 6-9) and high school (readers in grades 10-12). Students submitting stories to the contest can submit only one (1) story and must enter the category for their age group. Submissions should be no more than 750-1000 words long. Readers should include their name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, and shirt size on their submission.
2. Eligibility. The Contest is open only to legal residents of the forty-eight (48) contiguous continental United States (excluding the residents of Rhode Island and the District of Columbia) that are enrolled in grades 7-12. If a minor is participating as a Contestant in the Contest, then a parent or guardian of any Contestant who is a minor must therefore be able to sign a release on behalf of the minor to be eligible to enter and receive a prize, however, the Sponsor reserves the right to refuse to award a prize to or on behalf of any minor.Employees and trustees of LifeWay or its affiliates, subsidiaries, members, agents, and advertising or promotion agencies, and members of the immediate families (defined as including parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents, and each of their respective spouses) or households (whether related or not) of any of the above, and officers, directors, agents and employees of other publishers are NOT eligible to participate in the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right, at any time, to verify Contestant eligibility in any manner it deems appropriate. Participation constitutes Contestant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and the Sponsors’ decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.
3. Entry Period. The Contest begins on or about 12:00:01 a.m. CST on October 1, 2010, and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. CST on December 15, 2010 (“Entry Period”).
4. How to Enter. To enter the Contest, Contestants must complete the following steps:
i. Submit an original story that includes the Contest Prompt and is no longer than 750-1000 words. ii. Submit a submission in one of the categories (Middle School or High School). iii. Submit the story submission via e-mail to godlifefun@gmail.com. Contestants can only submit one entry to the Contest.
