Topic: Dirt Road Lessons for 2010
Scope: In narrative, poetry, or prose the contestant will put forth the life lessons learned in the current era. All entries must be the original work of the contestant. Contestants are well advised to read the short expository, People Who Live at the End of Dirt Roads by Lee Pitts.
Rules:
* Anyone who lives in Oklahoma or once lived in Oklahoma may enter so long as they are at least 14 years of age.
* There is no entry fee.
* Contestants may submit only one entry.
* Entries must be no longer than 500 words (two double-spaced pages in 12 font). Entries in excess of this limit will not be considered or returned.
* Hand written entries will not be considered or returned.
* Entries must be received no later than 1 December 2010.
* Electronic entries may not be submitted prior to 24 November 2010.
* Entries must be submitted electronically to tomspence0302@gmail.com or via postal service to Dirt Roads Writing Contest, Box 809, Burns Flat, OK 73624.
* The subject line of the email must read: Dirt Roads Writing Contest
* Entries may contain an original title within the scope of the topic.
* Winning entries will be published online in one or more locations. The author will be advised of the links to his or her work so they can be shared.
* Entry into this contest is the consent to publish online.
* Entries will not be returned, but the copyright remains the property of the contestant.
* Entries will be judged on originality, style, grammar, spelling, and syntax.
