Free contest, Emerald Flash Fiction Competition (UK), prize: £60

Terms and Conditions

No entry fee. £60 prize fund. Max 300 words. Closing date November 30, 2010. Theme: NO FIXED ABODE

1. Postal entries only. No entry form. Enclose a cover sheet with your contact details, comp title and word count. Do not put your name on the story page, just the title. It helps if you indicate on the cover sheet how you heard about the comp.
2. Entries can be single or double spaced or handwritten in block capitals.
3. Entries from different people can go in one envelope, ideally C5 size.
4. Entrants can be any age and must have an european address.
5. No publication route offered but first prizewinner will have their story published on the website. Copyright remains with the author. No entries can be returned.
6. Those shortlisted will receive a brief critique and will be notified prior to final judging.
7. Those who supply an email address may be informed of future comps. To unsubscribe send email with "unsubscribe" in subject box.
8. Queries welcome at emeraldcomps@googlemail.com. No attachments or PDFs please.
9. Entries must be unpublished originals and not currently submitted elsewhere.
10. Winners will be notified within 30 days of closing date.
11. One entry per person, maximum 300 words excluding title.
12. No entry fee. Total prize fund sixty pounds sterling or sixty euro.

November 5th update. 40 entries received so far. Please ensure you state how you heard about the comp on your cover sheet. I will be running four comps in 2011 with a very modest entry fee and an increased word count. One comp will be for the first 500 words of a novel. Details will be on here by late November. 2011 closing dates will be February 28, May 31, August 31, November 30. The prize fund for the 2011 comps will be increased to £75 with a first prize of £50; £15 second;£10 third or euro.
