Free contest, St. Augustine Holiday Story Contest (deadline extended to November 22), prize: $50

The deadline to submit entries for The St. Augustine Record-sponsored holiday short story contest has been extended to Nov. 22.

There are two categories -- adult and youth, with first, second and their place awards in each.

Winners will be announced at a 6 p.m. Dec. 10 gathering in The Center of The St. Augustine Record, One News Place. All who enter in the competition are invited to this gathering. Light refreshments will be served, and Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to welcome guests, with Santa reading the two winning entries.

First place winners will receive $50, a six-month subscription to The Record, and all winners will receive special prizes.

Stories should be original works and should be 500 words or less. If typed, they should be no longer than two pages, double spaced.

Stories should be sent to P.O. Box 1630, St. Augustine, FL 32085-1630, attention Short Story Contest, and entries should include the name, address, phone number and age for the youth category.

Winning entries will be printed in the Christmas Day edition of The Record.
