Free contest, The Second Annual Pat Herold Nielsen Poetry Prize, top prize: $100 (Maryland)

The Chester River Association is pleased to announce the second annual PAT HEROLD NIELSEN Poetry Prize to be awarded at the Second Annual Pat Nielsen Commemorative Poetry Night, with readings by the finalists at The Bookplate, Cross Street, Chestertown
at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011.

Deadline: Submissions should be postmarked by February 12, 2011.

First Prize: $100 and a printed broadside of the winning poem in hand-set, letterpress limited edition.

Second Prize: $50 for runner-up.

Judge: Jehanne Dubrow, author of Stateside and assistant professor of English at Washington College

Eligibility: The NIELSEN PRIZE is open to anyone residing in Kent or Queen Anne’s Counties.
Entrants must be 18 or older.

Fine Print:

• Poems may be published or unpublished and there are no restrictions on style.
• Length should not exceed one page.
• Subject matter should reflect some aspect of the Chester River or its environs.
• Submit up to 3 poems in typed manuscript form. Include name, address,
e-mail address, and phone number on a separate page.
• Do not include identifying information on poems themselves.
