Free to enter, Jane Martin Prize for Poetry, prize: £1,000 (UK)

Deadline: 23 May 2011

The Girton College Jane Martin Prize for Poetry

Girton College is pleased to announce the inauguration of a new national Prize for Poetry.

The Jane Martin Prize for Poetry, which is an annual award of £1000, has been created in memory of Jane Elizabeth Martin, who was a student at the College from 1978-1981.

The prize is open to all poets aged over 18 resident in the UK. Submissions must be sent in hard copy on A4 paper, written in the English language, and are limited to up to 4 poems over no more than 4 pages of A4. The judges retain the right to ask for a larger sample of work at the shortlisting stage. The closing date for submissions is noon on Wednesday 23rd March 2011.

The first awarding of the prize will take place after a Symposium on ‘Contemporary Poetry and the University’ to be held at Girton on 7th May 2011.
