Deadline: 7 February 2011
We will be open to fiction submissions between February 1st and 7th.
Original Short Story Submissions
We publish science fiction, anything from post-cyberpunk to new space opera. We do not want supernatural horror, urban or heroic fantasy. No vampires, sparkly or otherwise. We will consider stories of between 750 and 4000 words. Maximum story length is 4,000 words, firm. Payment is .05 per word, on publication. We do not accept multiple or simultaneous submissions. We discussed the type of stories we prefer in interviews at: Diabolical Plots, Market Scoops, Sensawunda, and Duotrope’s Digest.
Use the manuscript formatting as outlined by William Shunn:
- Double spaced
- 12 pt. Courier New or Times New Roman
- 1″ borders
- Name, contact info, and word count at the top of page one
- Title & page number in header for the rest of the story
The email:
- in the subject line include: your full name and story title
- in the body include: your name, contact info, word count, and a short cover letter listing your publication history
- attach your story to the email in Rich Text Format (.rtf) or Microsoft Word (.doc) format
Send the email to: submissions@redstonesciencefiction.com
We expect to respond to each submission within one month. If you have not heard from us in two months, please query.
Reprint Short Story Submissions
We are currently open to reprint submissions. The story must have been sold to a highly respected semi-professional (Electric Velocipede, etc.) or professional (F&SF, Analog, Asimov’s, etc.) print publication and not be available elsewhere free online.
The email subject line of a reprint submission should include: The Story Title, Author’s Name, Publication Name, and Publication Date. Format guidelines are the same as for Original Short Fiction. Maximum word length for reprints is negotiable. Reprint payment is 1 cent per word.
Email reprint submissions to: submissions@redstonesciencefiction.com. Make sure to include the word ‘REPRINT’ in the email subject line. We expect to respond to each submission within four weeks. If you have not heard from us in eight weeks, please query.
