Freelance writing, ShelfAwareness.com, pays $40 per book review

Book Reviewers Wanted

Shelf Awareness is looking for more book reviewers. We are especially interested in booksellers and librarians but civilians are welcome to apply; however, no one in the publishing industry, please. Thesaurus familiarity is a plus, since use of words like “marvelous,” “insightful,” and “brilliant” will be severely edited.

We are looking for reviewers who have expertise in and a fondness for these subjects:

* Animals and Pets
* Art, Design, Architecture, Photography
* Audio

Please be specific in mentioning which categories you are interested in, and assume that we will have a plethora of people who want to review “literature.”

We want reviewers with a “voice,” people who can convey their enthusiasm for a book while maintaining individuality. We will be asking the new reviewers for 300-word reviews, so sending in at least one review sample of that length would be wise.

Pay: we will pay $40 per review.

Quantity: we want 2 to 4 reviews a month from each reviewer. Some people will be able to do 2, some 3, some 4 – be realistic about what you can accomplish.

To sum up, we want a bio, including what you are doing now; three sample reviews; the subjects you are interested in; the number of reviews you think you can produce each month; questions, if you have any.

And a P.S.: If you have reviewed any of the following books, we’d like to see those reviews; or for extra credit, just write one.
