Freelance writing, Work Your Way Magazine, pays £30-£65 for 500-800 words

GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Our purpose Most people think that being entrepreneurial is incompatible with good parenting – that you can’t be serious about launching and growing a profitable business and be a great parent too. Surely something has to slide!

Work Your Way Magazine - founded by Mary Cummings, an entrepreneur and mother of three - is an exciting new digital magazine for entrepreneurial parents, which aims to knock that theory on the head. Our purpose is to show how you as a parent, can work your way and enjoy a work life balance that is truly your own, on your terms. Styled as an attractive, flip-page, digital magazine, each issue features inspiring stories of parents who run a successful business, and offers helpful advice on launching, growing and running a business with young children in tow. It also runs stories on parenting, finance, self development, health and lifestyle.

Target Readers

Our target readers are ABC1 working parents, with children under the age of 10 and who are actively looking for a better work life balance. The Magazine will be of interest both to parents who are in the process of starting a new business, as well as to those who already run a successful business. They regularly use the internet for online social networking, and subscribe to online newsletters and eZines.

Our tone

Articles should be short and pithy, but upbeat and informative. They should be written from a personal point of view, be practical and accessible. Contributions on parenting and self-development should also be written from a personal point of view, and be written from the unique perspective of someone who juggles parenting with managing a business.

Work Your Way welcomes unsolicited manuscripts, which can be:

For postal manuscripts, please include a stamped addressed envelope if you would like your
manuscript returned. Where appropriate, these can be accompanied by good quality photographs, (numbered and captioned). Please include a photo of the author and brief bio line, which may be required for publication alongside the article.

Payment

Our rates are:-
£30 for articles of 500 words
£65 for articles of 750-800 words
By negotiation for articles 800 words +

What we’re looking for:

Your business matters: Articles which address the issues that parentpreneur business owners face. What advice can you give to someone trying to grow their business, while raising a family? Have you become particularly adept at using online social media for your marketing? If so, what tips could you give to other business owners, trying to promote their business online? What advice could you give someone who is marketing on a ‘shoestring’?

Your family matters: How do you spend your family time together when you are not working? How do you keep family time together fun? How do you manage your work/life balance as a business owner? Do you work from home? If so, how do you manage your daily routine? Do you involve your children in your business? Are your children showing signs of following in your entrepreneurial footsteps?
