The South is a place with a rich literary mythology. Join the ranks of Chestnut, Faulkner and Twain by weaving the next great Southern myth.
Here are the rules: You get 1,000 words to weave your original Southern myth. Be regional (whatever that means to you as a Southerner).

For inspiration, draw on authors like Charles Chestnut, William Faulkner or Mark Twain. These guys were known for telling fictional stories about fantastical characters, locations and events as if they were factual history.
Your story must have a clear beginning, middle and end and must, in some way, point to or celebrate Southern mythology.
Entries must be submitted to nick@myartcommunity.cc by Saturday, April 30th.
A panel of judges will choose 3 winners. 1st Place will receive $100, 2nd Place will receive $75 and 3rd Place will receive $50!
