Contest Instructions
Word limit of 1,000 words. Must include the sentence – “Described by author Peter FitzSimons as a true, adults-only version of Lord of the Flies meets A Nightmare on Elm Street, the story of Batavia takes place in 1629”.

HOW TO ENTER DETAILS
Australian residents aged 18 years or over who enter the Random House Australia website at www.randomhouse.com.au during the promotional period for an advertised promotion will be eligible to enter the advertised promotion. To enter the promotion, eligible entrants must, during the promotional period, complete in full in the required manner and submit the online entry form at www.randomhouse.com.au. The start, finish and draw date and time for each promotion will be as advertised on the Random House Australia website for the advertised promotion.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
To enter an advertised promotion, eligible entrants must, during the promotional period for that promotion, complete in full in the required manner and submit the online entry form at www.randomhouse.com.au. Eligible entrants will be required to provide all mandatory information required for the promotion they enter in order to complete their entry. Such information may include their name, address, current and valid email address and telephone number.
Eligible entrants may enter on only one occasion for each advertised promotion. Any subsequent entry after the first valid entry received from an entrant will be deemed invalid. Internet entries will be deemed to be accepted at the time of receipt and not at the time of transmission. Incomplete, inaccurate, erroneous, ineligible or incomprehensible entries will be deemed invalid. Entries must be received by the Promoter during the promotional period for an advertised promotion.
The start, finish and judging date and time for each promotion will be as advertised on the Random House Australia website. The judging will take place by a panel of appropriately qualified judges at Random House Australia, Level 3, 100 Pacific Highway North Sydney NSW 2060. Chance plays no part in determining the winner. Each entry will be judged based on the following criteria: originality, creativity, humour and appeal. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winner will be notified by telephone and/or mail and/or email and their name and locality will be published on the promotional website. All reasonable steps to notify winners will be taken by the Promoter. Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Each winning entry in each advertised promotion will win one (1) Prize Pack containing the prizes as advertised for a given promotion. Prize packs will contain prizes that may include a combination of one or more of the following prize types: Random House books, music CD’s, movie passes, clothing, perfume, personal items and consumer goods. Prize Pack value for a given promotion will be as advertised. Movie Passes are subject to prevailing terms and conditions of use. All prize values advertised are the Recommended Retail Price including GST. The prize, or any unused portion of the prize, is not exchangeable or transferable and cannot be taken as cash. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize value. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for prizes lost or damaged in transit.
