Paying market, God Makes Lemonade, pays $250 per story

People all over the world have seen how lemons can turn into lemonade—how something unfortunate or unwelcome can be followed by an unexpected good. People thirsty for hope and inspiration drink deeply from stories like these.

Is your story right for the God Makes Lemonade series? Lemonade stories begin with the sour parts of life: illness, tragedy, heartbreak, or disappointment. But lemonade stories never stay sour—there’s always a surprising outcome that sweetens and inspires.

Our stories aren’t about overcoming tragedy and difficulty with our own hard work, as helpful as those stories can be. In a lemonade story, something unexpectedly good happens that’s outside our control—that never would have happened without something painful happening first.

If that’s the kind of lemonade story you have, will you share it and inspire others? We’d love to help you tell your story!

Simply click on our submit your story page, because we can only consider stories submitted through this website. Get ready to tell your true story about real people. And don’t worry about how literary your story is—making it read well is our job! Simply focus on providing the important elements of your story, and we’ll craft it into a compelling and inspirational read.

Here's our recipe for making great lemonade stories:

1. Submit your lemonade story.
2. Our team will decide if we can use your story, and we'll let you know by email.
3. If we can use it, we'll determine the right place for it in the series and then send you a contract that gives us permission to share your lemonade story with others.
4. When you sign the contract, we'll send you $50 and then prepare your story according to our lemonade recipe. When it's finished, we'll send you a copy for final review.
5. When you approve the story for publication, we'll send you a check for $200.
6. When the book is published, you'll receive ten free copies so that you can share your lemonade story with whoever needs it.
