What We Want:
We want stuff that’s unforgettable; stories that grab us from the first paragraph and won’t release us until the last word. Even then, the stories should stay with us. We want to think about it on the bus the next morning, and tell our friends about it.
* Fiction: We consider original, unpublished stories within the confines of fantasy, science-fiction and horror. We’re looking for short stories up to 5,000 words (firm).
* Flash Fiction: We are interested in tightly woven flash fiction, 500 – 1,000 words.
* Poetry: We’re interested in poetry, but on a limited basis so you gotta dazzle us! Submit no more than three poems at a time.
We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please advise us immediately if your story is accepted elsewhere. We do not accept multiple submissions or reprints.
Format:
Please use 12pt Arial, single-spaced lines with one line between paragraphs. Use italics and bold where needed. No indents, please. In the document body, include your name, story title, byline, (if any), contact information and approximate word count. Please name your submission file as such: STORY TITLE (YOUR NAME).
E-mail your submission as an attachment in a .doc format to lingerfiction(at)gmail(dot)com. Please use the word “SUBMISSION” in the subject line. In the body of your email, include a two to three sentence author bio, written in third person. This bio will be featured with your story, as well as on our author page.
Average Response Time: 30 days.
Payment Rates: We pay $20.00 for short stories, $5.00 for flash stories and poems, payable via PayPal only. The payment will be made at time of publication.
Rights: We claim First Electronic Rights. After publication, the rights to your story revert back to you. Your story will be available in our archives, but can be removed upon request.
We reserve the right to edit the spelling and grammar of any work we publish–but please make it easy on us and send us polished stories!
