Freelance writing, TomsGuide.com (technology website), pays $50-$500 per article (worldwide)

Tom’s Guide (www.tomsguide.com) seeks freelance technology journalists for regular feature assignments (not news coverage or blog posts). The catch? It’s your job to cultivate article ideas and submit well-crafted pitches to our editors. We're based in Los Angeles but work with writers around the world.

We’re not a standard product reviews site, though we do need to get our hands on the latest products. Our most successful articles look at up-and-coming consumer gadget/software/Web trends, as well as provide a wealth of information to readers about clever ways they can get more mileage out of the gear they already own. We prize actual reporting and research and attempt to solve everyday technology problems for our readers, as well as get them thinking creatively about ways technology can fit seamlessly into their lives (whether in the form of home décor, fashion, media consumption, pop culture, casual/PC/console gaming, work-life-balance, travel, etc.). We’re also excited about anything futuristic, as well as cool retro tech. Think of us as a tech lifestyle Web magazine. You might be familiar with our brother site, Tom’s Hardware. Unlike Tom’s Hardware, we do not cover PC components and performance.

To apply to become a regular contributor, please submit a resume, cover letter, links to three published tech-related articles, as well as one article idea for Tom’s Guide. Assignments for Tom’s Guide are typically made at a flat rate between $50 and $500 depending on the nature and scope of the article.
