Enter your manuscript into the National Seniors Phillpotts Literary Prize and you could WIN $5,000 to assist with the editing, printing, publishing and marketing of your book.
National Seniors Australia together with David Needham are providing Australian seniors with the opportunity to have their literary works published.
The National Seniors Phillpotts Literary Prize was designed to encourage talented Australian seniors to pursue their passion for writing and will provide the winner with $5,000 toward the editing, printing, publishing and marketing of a non-fiction book.
To be eligible, writers must:
* Be aged 50 years or over
* Be an Australian resident who has not had a book professionally published
* Submit a manuscript of 40,000 words or more on a single non-fiction topic, including but not limited to; biography, autobiography, history, science, sport, travel or philosophy. Note: Copyright and legal rights of the works remain with the author.
* Submit substantially complete manuscripts
* Complete and submit the entry form, including two copies of the manuscript for judging. Note: these manuscripts will not be returned to applicants.
The National Seniors Phillpotts Literary Prize is free to enter and writers do not need to be a member of National Seniors to apply.
To enter, download and complete the Application Form and send it with two copies of your manuscript to Seniors Literary Prize, GPO Box 259, Huonville, Tasmania 7109.
All entries must be received by 30 September 2011
Entries will be judged by a panel of three judges including a published independent author and a representative from National Seniors.
Details of a successful shortlist will be published in the December/January edition of 50 something magazine, with the winner announced at an official ceremony hosted by National Seniors in December 2011.
