Freelance writing, ApartmentList.com, pays $40-100 per guide (San Jose)

We are a San Francisco based start-up company launching a new social media integrated apartment search engine (www.ApartmentList.com) that we hope will revolutionize the online apartment hunt.

What we want:

• In an effort to help our users in their search for the perfect apartment, we're creating original apartment-hunting city guides specifically tailored to each of our 5,000+ cities.

• We are searching for a talented writer with a good number of tips and tricks when it comes to finding a quality apartment in San Jose that can't be found anywhere else on the web. This means we need a San Jose resident with robust city knowledge. Ideally, we would like someone who has lived in the area for quite some time and has a solid understanding of how to go about renting an apartment, the popular neighborhoods, up and coming social scenes, places to avoid, and other city insights, not just a boring list of tourist attractions or fun facts. Write as if a good friend is moving to the city and is looking for some advice on how to find their dream apartment. This should translate to a guide around 800-1200 words in length.

• We want skillful writer with a voice that is humorous and creative. We're looking for someone to give the often soulless process of apartment searching some flair and, well, soul to go with our Apartment Hunting Guides. One-liners are, of course, always welcome.

The Gig:

• Compensation will be $100/guide, but there are plenty of other opportunities to research & write guides for our smaller cities if we really like what you send in (those are priced at $40-50 a pop)

• Writers will be paid via PayPal.
