Deadline: 15 July 2011
EmcArts (www.EmcArts.org), a social enterprise and service organization for innovation in the arts, seeks Blogging Fellows with an interest in the nonprofit arts sector to write for the blog of a new website launching in September 2011 that enables dialogue and learning about innovation and new practices in the arts. The site will serve as both a clearinghouse for expert advice from many sources on emerging practices in the arts, and as a web community for arts leaders to connect and share lessons learned and new thinking around pressing issues.
Blogging Fellows will be expected to contribute posts of 400 to 750 words twice monthly for four month terms (Fall, Winter, or Summer) about topics including organizational innovation, adaptive capacities, and sustainability in the arts. Fellows will also be expected to monitor comments on their posts and respond as appropriate.
Topics for posts will be selected and edited in collaboration with the EmcArts staff, and may include analysis of sector trends and current events, interviews with arts leaders and non-arts innovators, and roundups of news and events. Disciplines covered include theater, dance, opera, music, visual art, museums, media and other arts. Posts are expected to be thoroughly researched.
The new site will launch to selected users in August 2011; full public launch and a live kick-off event are planned for fall 2011. Initial support for the project has been provided by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation.
This is an opportunity to help shape the voice of a significant new resource for arts practitioners, funders, arts management students, arts academics, bloggers, funders, policy makers, innovation experts and other users. EmcArts is a leading authority on organizational innovation in the arts, yet we remain curious, open and encouraging of exploration of new ideas. We are seeking to cultivate a community of users who share these characteristics. Our overall aim is to move the dialogue about the vital importance of innovation from the margins to the center of discourse about the future of our field.
