Patch.com, a nationwide network of local news websites, is looking for some freelance writers in the Hinesville/Fort Stewart area to cover stories of interest to the military community. Our Fort Stewart site hasn't launched yet, but we should go live in the near future, and we want writers! This is a great opportunity to sharpen those writing skills and make a bit of extra money on the side. If you'd like to know what we're about, browse around one of our hundreds of other sites -- specifically fortbragg.patch.com, since like them, we'll be focusing on the military community.
Qualified applicants should be available to cover assigned stories and be familiar with at least the basics of good grammar and style. Some journalism experience is definitely a plus, but it's not a dealbreaker if you're willing to learn! Freelancers will be paid per story, and stories will be assigned by the editor -- so make sure you let us know what kind of availability you have.
When the site goes live, we will need a few part-time freelancers to work pretty steadily, so this is a great way to bring in a few extra dollars a week. If you'd like to know more, contact Ryan Smith, editor of the Fort Stewart Patch, at ryan.smith@patch.com.
