We are looking for one to two professional writers to produce editorial content on doing business in 20 countries. The assignment requires writing two articles per country (1,500 to 2,000 words each) on the subjects of business meetings and negotiating. The articles follow a strictly detailed form that describes cultural and national tendencies in a number of set categories, as they pertain to international business practices. We already have articles on 80 countries; the new articles must adhere to the guidelines to ensure consistency throughout the entire project.
Please have existing published work to your credit (commercial Web content strongly preferred), and include writing samples with your application. You'll also need to be an expert in Internet research, and be able to gauge the reliability of sources and information. Additionally, you must be able to differentiate between essential and non-essential information, synthesize information from a variety of sources, and craft concise, unambiguous, elegant, and grammatically sound sentences.
We have very specific instructions for content, structure, length, and style. We will send you a highly detailed assignment sheet, a house style guide, completed sample articles, and a list of suggested sources. We do regular checks for copyright infringement.
This project requires a high degree of international and intercultural awareness, research ability, and expressive clarity. We are not looking for marketing copy.
Pay is a fixed rate of $220 per country (two articles of 1,500-2,000 words each) for text requiring only a brief copy edit and proofing. This is a freelance job, and you can work from anywhere--we currently have writers based around the world, from Prague to Shanghai to San Francisco. Payment can be sent via Paypal if requested; we generally make payments on a weekly basis.
