Welcome post-grads! Here are the important details of our new children’s fiction writing competition. We are looking forward to reading your entries.

Post-graduate Writing Competition: Fiction 7-10 years OR
Post-graduate Writing Competition: Fiction 10+

MANUSCRIPTS MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE THE LAST POST ON OCTOBER 31st 2010.
* No email submissions. No picture books, graphic novels or illustrations
* Entrants must be aged 18 and over and must be currently be on, or have completed post 2000, a recognised post-graduate writing course in an English speaking country.
* Secure entries with elastic bands and place in a cardboard wallet
* Entries will not be returned. No correspondence can be entered into
* Full length manuscript for Fiction 7-10, no more than 40,000 words
Full length manuscript for Fiction 10+, no more than 80,000 words
* Manuscripts must be suitable for a worldwide children’s audience.
* Please include a copy of your post-graduate certificate/details of the course you attend, a one page synopsis, and a letter of submission explaining the book’s appeal to children.
PRIZE
The overall winner will receive an offer of worldwide publication by The Chicken House on terms to be agreed. It is a condition of entry that the entrant accepts that there are no alternative prizes, and that Chicken House reserve their rights to offer or not offer, and the entrant may accept or reject the Chicken House’s standard publishing terms.
In addition, 10 entrants will win a day’s workshop with Barry Cunningham, Imogen Cooper and the Chicken House publishing team, plus a well known children’s author. Learn about how a book is edited, designed, printed and marketed in the current worldwide children’s book market place.
