We are on the hunt for a blogger who likes to work from home and enjoys blogging about real estate, politics, crime, health, government, technology, money and more.
The ideal candidate would be a freelance writer who can regularly contribute to Estately’s blog (blog.estately.com). If you're not familiar with Estately.com, we are a website making it easier for people to find and buy real estate online. Estately has an award winning search interface and super detailed, up-to-the-minute information about every home for sale.
Estately receives hundreds-of-thousands of visitors every month and currently works with Multiple Listing Services in eight states, listing over 579,000 homes, with more growth on the horizon. The idea behind our blog is to talk about all the interesting, entertaining or bizarre ways that real estate and home buying intersect life. This is not a collection of boring "How to Get a New Home Loan" or "The Difference Between Condo and Townhouse" real estate buying guides. We want our posts to have mass appeal to people who may not even need immediate home buying assistance or even without any interest in real estate.
-The Job-
We are looking for a writer who can work from home and contribute to blog.estately.com 2-3 times per week.
Every blog post should
- Be interesting, entertaining and insightful.
- Be written at a level anyone can understand.
- Be punchy enough to accommodate short attention spans.
- Be unique and add value (not just a rehash the news already reported elsewhere).
- Have lots of viral potential.
- Always have a catchy title.
- Have some connection to real estate, even if it's an thin or indirect connection (e.g., an introduction giving a brief overview of the collapsed stock market before linking it to how Bernie Madoff is adjusting to prison life).
- Be well-researched with plenty of links back to reputable online sources.
The best way to see the type of writing we want is to browse existing blog posts at airlinetickets.org and blog.okcupid.com.
-The Ideal Writer-
You are someone who
- Can consistently contribute 2-3 blog posts a week.
- Is completely comfortable writing from a liberal, conservative or centrist perspective as needed.
- Can write blog posts from ideas that come from the editor and/or come up with your own blog post ideas.
- Is a solid internet researcher.
- Is an information and news junkie who knows what's going on in the world and what issues are hot.
- Is familiar with Wordpress
-Pay-
Pay is $40 per blog post, and posts should average around 700 words each.
