Freelance writing, topics: local stories (Romeoville), pays $50-$100 per story

Patch.com, a hyper-local news site getting ready to launch in Romeoville, is looking for freelance reporters, photographers and columnists. Reporters will cover local government meetings, school news and the occasional breaking story.

Positions are for experienced journalists, but journalism students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Freelancers must have a reliable transportation, a computer, Internet access and a digital camera.

Freelancers must also be able to work on deadline, pitch story ideas and be available on evenings and weekends.

Interested candidates should send a resume, cover letter and 3-5 writing samples.
