Free contest, Intergeneration Storytelling Contest 2011, top prize: $500

Intergeneration Storytelling Contest 2011

Intergeneration Foundation's Storytelling Contest goal is to emphasize and recognize storytelling as a way to connect generations.

An age-old tradition to inform, educate and entertain, storytelling is now part of the
high-speed internet. Write a story, poem or song (fiction, non-fiction, or a combination). Feature characters from at least two generations.

One illustration, such as a drawing or photograph may be included and will be considered when judging the entry.

Writing suggestions include, but are not limited to:

* Stories from an older person, like a grandparent, you have heard.

* Stories you think you might tell your children or grandchildren.

* Stories from history.

* Stories from different cultures.

Cash Prizes:

1st Prize- $500
2nd Prize-$350
3rd Prize-$150

Including possible publication of each story.

All submissions must be received by email no later than August 15, 2011. Please send all submissions to, contest@intergeneration.org

People of all ages are encouraged to enter.

Rules:

1. Story not to exceed 750 word
2. Include your name and contact information (age optional)
3. Story must be original and unpublished
4. Entries will not be returned, so keep a copy for yourself!
5. Submission grants Intergeneration Foundation non-exclusive legal rights to publish entries (your name and contact info will be kept private if requested in writing)
6. Judging of the Storytelling Contest will be done by the Trustees of Intergeneration Foundation and their appointed representatives.
7. We will announce the winners on or before Intergeneration Day, the first Sunday of October. The names of the winners will be announced on our website and each winner will be contacted by Intergeneration Foundation to receive their prize by mail.
