Camcorder Reviewer – Consumer Electronics Website
Popular camcorder website seeks a freelance writer.
Camcorder HQ is a consumer-oriented camcorder resource website. Basically, we try to make it as easy as possible for the average consumer to buy a decent camcorder. With that in mind, we try to write in conversational language and answer the most important question of any consumer review: Is this worth buying?
Prospective freelancers should be familiar with camcorder and home video terminology, the layout and features of a typical camcorder, and have a decent idea of current camcorder trends. It's even better if you can confidently compare a product to its competition. Ideally, you're a camcorder and home video enthusiast.
Most assignments will be camcorder reviews. We arrange to have testing units shipped out to writers. Writers complete an 800-1000 word review in roughly two weeks, plus a sample video (or a few videos) that show off the camera's capabilities, good or bad. We pay $100 per review.
To start, we'll assign one review. If it goes well, more assignments will follow. We expect to be able to offer about one review per month – the camcorder space is pretty low-key these days. Think of it this way: You get to test some new gadgets, make a few dollars, and get some exposure for your byline. Not too much pressure. Sweet gig, right? There might be some additional work here and there, but at the moment we are primarily looking for a camcorder reviewer.
If you're interested, please respond with a brief description of yourself, one or two writing samples (links to online work or blog posts are preferred, because Craigslist limits file sizes in emails), and a brief writeup (300 word max) describing the latest Cisco Flip Video MinoHD 8GB. It's perfectly fine if you haven't used this camera – just write based on specifications and what you know about the pocket camcorder market as a whole. Again, it's best to include all of this in the body of the email since Craigslist may or may not bounce your message if it has any attachments.
Compensation: $100 per article
