Freelance job, BNA.com needs a freelance Berlin correspondent, offers "competitive pay rate"

BNA, a Washington-based news publisher with a growing network of international reporters, is seeking a correspondent in Berlin to add to our foreign coverage there.

Applicants must have several years reporting experience working on daily deadlines for English-language publications. Local language skills are a plus. Must be able to work well independently and be aggressive when it comes to pitching story ideas. Applicants already located near Berlin will be given priority consideration.

BNA's Berlin special correrspondent covers news from the German government including legislation, regulation, and the courts. The Berlin correspondent will write stories for BNA's full range of business publications: taxes, environment, pensions, accounting, banking, e-commerce, HR, pharmaceuticals, and much, much more. The best-qualified candidates will speak German fluently and have experience covering the German government for an English-language daily.

Qualifications required include writing on daily deadline for U.S.-based readership, AP style skills, proven knowledge of federal government and legal processes including the Bundestag, ministries, and courts, ability to write clearly and concisely about complex topics, and a highly developed nose for news. Ideal candidates will be self-starters who work well independently.

This freelance position offers a competitive pay rate commensurate with experience and is expected to be file three or more stories a week.
