Freelance job, rewriting of 3 articles for ezinearticles.com, payment: $20 per article

Contact: Stawrew@gmx.de

I am looking for someone to rewrite 3 of my articles. Two of them are already accepted and published on articlebase.com. You can see them here:

- The 5 Best Sources For Real Estate Listings in Germany

- Buying a House or Flat in Berlin - A Secret Tactic to Get a Great Property for "Dirt-Cheap"

I submitted the 3 articles to ezinearticles.com in the first place but they were rejected because they did not comply with the editorial guidelines of ezinearticles.com.

Since the articles were in the meantime accepted by articlebase, they have to be rewritten so that they are unique before submitting them again to ezinarticels.com.

Also, I would like that the articles are SEO-optimized and rang well in Google. I am targeting the keywords “real estate Germany” and “real estate Berlin Germany”.

However, the most important thing for me is that the articles are accepted and published by ezinarticles.com.

My budget is $20 per article; that means $60 for all 3 articles. I would prefer to pay 50 % upfront and the rest when the articles are accepted and published by ezinearticles.com.

Please send me some of your examples and your track-record with ezinearticles, because I want to make sure that the articles will be accepted.

Also, let me see that you have SEO-experience with regard to article writing.

I will send you the third article (that is still reviewed by articlebase) and the emails I received from ezinarticles explaining why they rejected my articles (although I couldn´t understand the explanation anyway).

As for communication, please email me at Stawrew@gmx.de because I live in Berlin, Germany and there is a significant time difference between the US or Asia and Europe. So, it will be difficult to find a time that is good for both of us to talk on the phone.

Queries/Manuscripts

To suggest a story, send us a query letter (3 or 4 paragraphs) with backup clips of your idea. Keep in mind that we receive numerous solicited and unsolicited manuscripts. Due to the large volume of unsolicited materials received by the editorial office, only queries of interest will be acknowledged. If you wish to verify receipt of your materials, we suggest scheduling them via certified mail or other traceable means. We schedule articles for our editorial calendar approximately a year and a half in advance of publication. (German Life assumes no responsibility for the return or condition of unsolicited manuscripts, photographs or art.)

Each issue of German Life is bound by our editorial calendar and seasonal events. The April/May issue deals with travel in Germany and other parts of German-speaking Europe. The June/July issue is primarily on German-American travel destinations.

Our August/September issue includes Oktoberfest and educational pieces. Given scheduling restraints, we prefer that you submit your work several months prior to the appropriate issue. Deadlines will be given when the article topic is accepted.

Your manuscript should not exceed 1,200 words. Longer pieces will be considered solely at the Editor's discretion. Smaller pieces appropriate for a sidebar or one of the magazine's departments should range between 300 and 800 words. Book reviews average 250 to 300 words.

Please ensure that we are the sole recipients of your manuscript. Also, please guarantee your work's originality. Give proper credit for any other author's ideas that you may use. If your article recounts only firsthand experiences, references are seldom necessary. In all other cases, cite the direct source on a separate sheet of paper, following The Chicago Manual of Style. Submit the original(s) (including photos, slides, and/or illustrations), along with a SASE, to Editor, German Life, 1068 National Highway LaVale, MD 21502.

Most manuscripts are published from nine months to two years after acceptance. Manuscripts requiring revision are either returned in original form or first edited and then sent to the author for approval.

You will be duly alerted when your accepted manuscript/photo/ illustration has been scheduled into an upcoming issue. Payment is upon publication and ranges from $300 to $500 for feature articles, from $100 to $130 for reviews and short pieces, and up to $80 for fillers. In exchange for remuneration, German Life retains first English/German language serial rights.

All manuscripts are edited for style, consistency, and clarity. The final title of the published article, subheads, captions, photographs and illustrations, and other elements that attract attention to an article or contribute to the tone and appearance of the magazine are the Editor's prerogative.

Send all submissions to Editor, German Life, 1068 National Highway, LaVale, MD 21502.

No application fee, McCloy Fellowship in Journalism, stipend: $200 per day (USA/ Germany)

Deadline: 30 April 2011

Time spent reporting abroad has the potential to transform young journalists’ modes of thinking and broaden their professional horizons. Though the current global political landscape is in rapid flux and offers exciting subjects for young journalists to confront, funding for foreign correspondence at many newspapers and other media organizations remains low.

The American Council on Germany helps fill this void with our McCloy Fellowships in Journalism, which provide print, broadcast, and new-media journalists in relatively early stages of their careers with the opportunity to travel to Europe or the United States for up to 21 days to conduct on-site research and interviews and pursue stories of their own design. Fellows also have the option to apply for an extension of up to seven additional days. Past fellows have explored a wide range of topics, including public-policy issues that bear significance for the United States, Germany, and the European Union, such as immigration, security, trade relations, and health care. Fellows’ research often results in newspaper articles or radio shows, and some fellows have expanded their projects into books.

McCloy Fellowships in Journalism provide transatlantic roundtrip airfare, approved inter-city travel, and a daily stipend of $200 for up to 21 days abroad to cover housing, meals, and local transportation. Journalists attached to media organizations are encouraged to apply. Freelance journalists are asked to demonstrate where resulting articles and/or other pieces could be placed. Applicants must hold U.S. or German citizenship to be eligible. American applicants may travel to Germany and/or other EU27 countries, provided that the project bears significance for contemporary Germany within the wider EU context. For American applicants, while knowledge of the German language may be helpful, it is not a prerequisite of the program. German applicants must travel to the United States, and all German applicants must be proficient in English.

All candidates must submit the following to the address below:

1) a cover letter outlining what you expect to gain in terms of personal and professional development from this fellowship; 2) a current curriculum vitae; 3) a project proposal of at least two pages detailing the background and scope of your proposed story or stories, the general sources with whom you plan to consult while abroad, and the relevance of the project for transatlantic relations; 4) two letters of recommendation; and
5) (if applicable) a statement outlining why an extension beyond 21 days is preferred.

Send all materials to:
