Freelance job, German-American business biography writer, payment: $400 per article

The German Historical Institute (GHI) located in Washington, DC is currently working on a new project called "Immigrant Entrepreneurship: German-American Business Biographies, 1720 to the Present." The project seeks to explore the contributions that first- and second-generation German immigrants have made to business and entrepreneurship in America. The project will feature 250 biographies of prominent entrepreneurs of German descent. For a brief overview, please follow this link: http://www.ghi-dc.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=964&Itemid=856

Not surprisingly, several of the candidates on our list lived and worked in Connecticut. Given your interest in Connecticut history, I thought you might consider contributing to this project and looking over our full list of candidates, which you can find at the website above. Entrepreneurs that we'd like to feature include the following individuals and many more:

* George Schneller (1843-1895): Schneller Stay Works, Clothing

* Theodore Bodenwein (1864-1939): New London Day (Newspaper) Morning Telegraphy, Publishing - Newspaper

* Frederick Grave (1849-1924): F. D. Grave & Sons, Tobacco - Cigars

* Jacob Schick (1877-1937): Schick Inc., Manufacturing - Shaving

We are asking for articles of no more than 20 pages and offer an honorarium of $400. Additionally, we hope to have opportunities for some of the authors to present their research at project-related events. If you or anyone you know may be interested in authoring an entry, please contact me at winkler@ghi-dc.org. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
