EarthTechling (http://www.earthtechling.com/), a rapidly growing Web site focused informing consumers about the latest in green technology through news, reviews and in-depth features, seeks a Portland, Oregon-based news writer to add to our daily coverage. This is a contract, freelance position, paying a set amount per news story that you contribute to the site.

News stories, 150-300 words in length and including a graphic, will be your daily focus Monday-Friday. Topics will range across the gamut of green technology, from smart grids to solar panels to new green gadgets, but all will be consumer-focused. This means we are trying to educate consumers about what’s upcoming and positive about green tech as it spreads through their lives, while at the same time helping them to separate the wheat from the chaff around bogus green tech ideas.

You will be asked to post four stories a day to start, at a pay rate of $10 a story. This is not much, we know, but we are a Web start up so funds are limited unfortunately. As time goes along and a proven writer emerges, we will offer you opportunities to take on more lucrative writing assignments in addition to your daily news coverage. Story ideas for news will be provided, as well as training in our WordPress news posting process.

Since we desire to support our local economy, we will only be considering at this time Portland, OR Metro writers. We ask that you email us the standard fare: short cover letter, why you think you fit this position, etc, and we will follow up with interesting applicants. We will offer preference to those with previous green tech or consumer electronics writing experience, as well as those with a consumer-focused blogging or article writing background.

Location: Portland, OR (Virtual)

Telecommuting is ok.
