Free contest, The Naple Players' 2011 New Plays Contest, prize: 3 winners of $100 (Florida)

Deadline: 30 May 2011

New-Plays Contest

Naples Players’ ETC…Reader’s Theatre is calling for one-act scripts in any genre – comic, dramatic, suspense, other than musical – for its eighth annual new-plays contest for Southwest Florida playwright.

As many as three Finalists and possible Honorable Mentions may be selected anonymously by a panel of qualified judges. ETC…will present the winning plays in public readings in the Tobye Studio of Sugden Community Theatre in downtown Naples Friday and Saturday Dec. 3 and 4, 2011. Finalists will receive $100 royalties and event trophies. A reception will follow.

Playwrights may submit their original scripts, not more than 30 minutes in length, and not later than May 30, 2011, to: "An Evening of New Plays 2011", Naples Players ETC…, Reader’s Theatre, 701 5th Ave. S., Naples 34102, Attn: Joan Laughlin, Coordinator.

Submissions must include a cover page separate from the script, giving the author’s name, address, phone and other contact information. The script itself must include a title page without the author’s name and attached to the script. For the script to be returned, a stamped, addressed envelope must be included. A cast of no more than seven characters is recommended. Residents of Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties are eligible to submit their plays, so long as the writers are not judges in the year of submission. Plays not selected in prior years may be submitted again for consideration by the current judging panel. The contest is to encourage, recognize and promote new works by SWFL writers. In its first seven years, 25 finalists and three honorable mentions were selected from more than 140 qualified entries.
