Georgetown From Conflict to Peace Conference
Essay Competition: Call for Abstracts
The international conference, ‘From Conflict to Peace: Innovative Approaches to Peacebuilding’ will be held at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. on September 8th, 2011. The event will serve as an intellectual gathering of students, faculty, and practitioners in the field of conflict resolution.
As part of the conference, the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs at Georgetown University is sponsoring an academic essay competition. Given the interdisciplinary focus of the event, individuals studying the intersection of conflict resolution with other sectors are especially encouraged to apply.
Proposal submissions will be accepted from graduate and advanced undergraduate students currently attending North American universities (or planning to enroll in the fall of 2011). Please note that Georgetown University will be unable to financially assist students presenting at the conference.
Abstract Guidelines:
200-250 words in length, describing the topic being addressed in the essay. In addition to integrating one or more of the conference themes, the essay should draw upon the individual’s unique perspective on how to advance peace. Students are encouraged to consider peacebuilding in a manner consistent with their own visions of engaging a problem meaningful to them. Projects that incorporate personal, professional, and academic experience are encouraged.
