Online community news site in Central Tampa is looking for additional freelance reporters to help cover the following beats:

1. Schools/Parenting/Kids

2. Local Government/Community Development

Applicants need a computer, a digital camera and reliable transportation. We're looking for applicants with strong reporting and writing skills. Photojournalism and video experience are a huge plus. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with a background in community journalism, those who are bilingual in Spanish and English and those who live in (or are very familiar with) the diverse neighborhoods of Central Tampa.

Our freelance rates vary and depend on the type, length and complexity of each article or photo/video project. We also take into consideration the overall quality of the work.

For example (not set in stone):

• A brief news item (250 words or less) with one or no photos may earn $25 or more.
• A short daily story (375-525 words), accompanied by three to five photos, may earn $50 or more.
• A longer or complex article with photos, a photo gallery of 20+ quality shots, or a fully edited video that tells a story, can earn $50 to $100 or more, depending on the assignment.
