Freelance job, editing for Rising Publications, payment: $240 for 20,000 words

A small, new publishing company seeks a copy editor ASAP for a new book, 6x9, 20,000 words titled "Write a How-to Book in 7 Days." This gig pays $240, one half up front and the other half upon delivery of the manuscript. This is a great gig for a retired teacher, an English student or a freelance editor just starting out. I will gladly write a glowing recommendation letter for a job well done.

Here is a list of services needed in three rounds of revisions with a turnaround time of maximum 1 week for each round:

First round:

* Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax
* Correct errors in sentence structure and language usage, consistent tense
* Make note of recommended changes in wording or phrasing to improve the readability of the manuscript
* Insert notes throughout the document where approval from a third-party may be required
* Correct commonly known errors (e.g. "Hillary Clinton, the senator from New Jersey" to "Hillary Clinton, the senator from New York")
Second round:
* Review the organization of the material to ensure that theories (for nonfiction) and that the manuscript is in a well organized format
* Provide light research to ensure accuracy (such as commonly used quotations or statistics)
* Make note of instances where material may stray from its intended purpose
* Remove erroneous or irrelevant information or parts
* Ensure consistency throughout by noting or correcting the author's use of specific terminology, etc.
* Determine the completeness of the content following revisions made after first review edit with attention to the intended readership purpose and use of the manuscript
* Reorganize paragraphs to make them more logical to the reader
* Check the appropriateness of all figures (nonfiction), and note comments or questions
Third round
* Review the final interior after the manuscript has been formatted/typeset, just before the book goes to press, and correct only spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.

Also, there are more books to edit in the future--7 more books before the end of the year.
