Freelance writing, Extrabux.com, pays $5-$10 per 60 to 120-word deal description

Extrabux is an online deals site that gives cash back and coupons to its members when they shop at over 2,000 online retailers. We're a San Diego-based company with seven employees and over 60,000 members. We are looking for a writer to help add engaging content to our featured deals.

Every morning we send an email to our members featuring 5-7 hand-picked coupons and product deals from Extrabux. At the moment, these deals feature nothing more than the deal name and the expiration date. We'd like to make these emails more engaging by featuring a short write-up that describes each deal with thoroughly researched, informative selling points that range from the straightforward to the quirky and amusing.

Our team will choose the deals to be featured throughout each day and post them in a Google Doc with most of the necessary information (product/coupon name, expiration date, discount amount, etc.). Every night it will be your job to add a description to each deal in this Google Doc.

You will write 60-120 words that describe each deal. The description must achieve two things: first, it must clearly explain the deal and present compelling imagery of what the deal offers to shoppers; second, it must be entertaining to read and void of marketing clichés. We suggest that you inject creative, humorous tangents that are short, well-timed, and adhere to our guidelines (deal description guidelines below). Experience is a plus, but not necessarily required if you have compelling samples. We'll work with you if you can write succinctly, persuasively, and intelligently. You must show a willingness and ability to generate content on a daily basis. Web savvy is critical. Pay is commensurate with your experience and the quality of your writing samples and ranges from $5-10 per deal description. We'll discuss details of your pay together if we like your samples.

Deal Description Guidelines:

1. Include all info you feel separates this deal from other deals.
2. Avoid marketing clichés such as:
-Got X problem? This deal is your answer!
-Exclamation points
-Slogans, branding language from the retailer's website, unsubstantiated claims (superlatives, etc)
3. Shoot for 80% informative content, 20% creative content.
4. Always include the deal's expiration date if there is one.
5. Always include the deal's coupon code if there is one.
6. Always include the discount amount if it's a product deal.
7. If it's a product deal, leverage user reviews, the next best price, and store reviews to compel the reader to buy. ("The Sharp Quattron 1080p 60" HDTV not only boasts 5 stars from Amazon.com user reviews, today only it sells for $1,500 from Electronics Expo -- that's $500 cheaper than the next best price.")
