Freelance writing, Offshore Wind Wire, pays $50-$100 per story (USA)

Deadline: 15 March 2011

Position: Freelance Reporters

Location: All locations considered but prefer candidates from Washington, District of Columbia

Website: http://www.offshorewindwire.com

Description:

The Offshore Wind Wire is a news and analysis Web site covering the fledgling offshore wind industry in the United States. We run several regular features -- including a morning roundup of news briefs and a weekly interview with a newsworthy figure in the industry. The site also features original reporting.

We are looking for freelance journalists who can handle story assignments on the political, legal and technical aspects of offshore wind development.

A degree in journalism or at least two years of experience in journalism and/or writing and communications work on energy or environmental issues is required. Offshore wind industry knowledge is not required, although a familiarity with energy and/or environmental issues would be beneficial.

We prefer applicants who can commit to one or two stories a month for at least one year. Articles are expected to be between 400 and 500 words. We pay between $50 and $100 per story, depending on the complexity of the issue.

Applicants should send a brief introductory cover letter, a resume, and three clips or writing samples to Peter Brennan, Editor (jobs@offshorewindwire.com).
