A progressive monthly mag is going to launch this summer, covering Long Island's cultural, artistic, music, and political landscape. In the spirit of the underground newspapers of the 1960s and 1970s, the new monthly will welcome, more often than not, "creative nonfiction" and "literary journalism" ... akin to the New Journalism movement.
Currently, we are looking for freelance coverage in all areas (national news is welcomed as well), and personal essays and editorials; columns as well, but should have a regular theme.
Artists who dig countercultural imagery are welcomed as well...
Although not paying much, contributors will get compensated... Drop a line and let's hear ideas!
Location: Long Island
Compensation: Writers, $10 per full page; artists, negotiable
