Patch.com in St. Louis has an immediate need for reliable, hard-working reporters to write for two local websites in the cities of Brentwood, Clayton, Maplewood and Richmond Heights. The paid freelance positions offer steady work for the right candidates. The reporters will work in a specific beat, such as education, city/county government and/or business development. We're hoping to find candidates who are familiar with the school districts, city governments and local business communities.
Ideal candidates will:
• Have experience in news gathering and writing.
• Be passionate about community journalism.
• Be comfortable using the Internet and online tools.
• Own a digital camera and/or mobile video camera.
Familiarity with one or more of these communities and photo/video editing experience are considered pluses.
