Freelance job, freelance editor/ writer for Big Monkey Group, payment: $400-$700 per issue (Stockton)

Big Monkey Group currently has an opening for a freelance writer to oversee the editorial production, editing and proofing of our newest magazine: On the Mile.



This quarterly magazine will feature the lifestyles of those who live, shop and own businesses in and around Stockton's historic Miracle Mile district.



A variety of topics include; beauty, health, dining, family, home, campus life, and features on Miracle Mile businesses.



The ideal candidate would be familiar with the Miracle Mile and U.O.P., some history of the area would be very beneficial.



Qualifications



• Must live in Stockton and be familiar with the Miracle Mile district

• Detailed and organized

• Strong interviewing skills

• Creative writer

• Adhere to Chicago Manual of Style

• Stellar editing and proofreading



Job description



Regularly meet with the publisher to determine the editorial line up for upcoming issues. Interview both in person and by phone, write, edit and proof 4-12 pages of editorial content every 3 months, research and fact check stories. Consult with Miracle Mile businesses for story ideas. Work from home or in our office, but must be able to visit the Mile to gather some content for stories. This is a 1099 independent freelance position with the potential to develop into additional projects.
