Freelance writing, I-LeadUSA.com, pays $50 per story/ $500 for best submission

I-LEAD Inc. is offering community and freelance writers the following special opportunity involving the description of success stories:

Working with numerous community leaders, I-LEAD has created a guide to neighborhood transformation entitled Community Through Personal Responsibility.

You can find it online at http://i-leadusa.org/cpr-initiative/. We are preparing it for print and e-reader publication.

We are seeking two short case studies to illustrate each of the 21 specific action steps included in the guide. We envision short, engaging narratives (250-500 words) for each action step. Writers can select one or more action steps for their submissions. Please use the chosen action step(s) as the subtitle for the story. If your work is selected, we will pay $50.00 per story and give each contributing writer credit in the published version of the guide. In addition, we plan to award $500 for the most compelling piece received. The guide will be updated annually to include additional stories.

Interested writers, please write a short case study about good community work being done in the arenas of personal and community health, education, employment or other area within the scope of CPR. Please include the chosen action step(s) Consider this community journalism. Tell us about people taking action steps to improve their lives and those of their families and communities. Here are some example topic areas:

• Did someone get a job or start a business?

• Has someone started to eat healthy and exercise?

• Is someone in recovery from addiction?

• Did someone take their next step in education?

• Did someone become a first time homeowner?

• How do you or someone you know practice creativity?

• Who is leading their family or community toward wellness?

• Is anyone helping others to take positive steps in their lives (health, education, employment, service)?

• Who does great volunteer work or community service?

• What are we and our neighbors doing to improve or maintain the appearance of our property?

• Has anyone started a community based organization or program?

• Who is teaching youth how to be responsible and respectful and lead positive lives?

• Does anyone track public taxes and expenditures by local government?

• How effective is your local government in assisting persons to be healthy, educated, employed, connected and safe?

• Have you or someone you know recently become politically active?
