Home Town Media Group, a company that publishes five community weekly newspapers in lower Westchester County, seeks freelance writers to contribute to our award-winning publications.
Pay $30-$50 per article, depending on word counts and type of assignment. Our freelancers are a supplement to the full-time reporting staff, and can have a steady, weekly gig or two so long as the reporters prove to be dependable.
The opportunity is perfect for those with other employment seeking regular reporting opportunities or recent graduates looking to build a portfolio.
We need people who can cover a wide variety of topics – from community events like sporting events, parades and tree lighting ceremonies - but most importantly news stories like municipal board meetings. We are seeking not only strong writers, but reliable individuals: Our freelancers are not “one shot” writers, but viewed as frequent contributors.
Requirements:
MUST HAVE A CAR
MUST HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA
Must live in or within several miles of lower Westchester County and have a flexible schedule.
Must be willing to cover news events like board meetings and events such as lectures. If you are not flexible in the type of articles you are willing to write or events you are willing to cover, then this is not the opportunity for you.
